National University of Singapore (NUS) student Andy Chow Kok Haw had drowned while swimming at the KrKa National Park near the city of Siberik, Croatia. He was 25 years-old.
The fourth-year Pharmacy undergraduate was reported by The Straits Times to be traveling with his girlfriend and several pharmacy coursemates on a graduation trip. He was due to graduate in July 2016.
Messages mourning Mr Chow came pouring in as people shared articles bearing news of his death on Facebook.
One former teacher of Mr Chow remembers him as being a part of her very first cohort of students, saying that he was “bright and promising.” Lianhe Wanbao also reported that Mr Chow’s former army colleagues had posted messages of grief, shock, and condolences on his Facebook page.
In NUS, Mr Chow was formerly the treasurer of outdoor and adventure group, NUS Rovers. He was also previously a resident at the King Edward VII hall.
