At the Singapore Fashion Week 2017: Fashion Futures 1.0 presented by ZALORA

Bringing an exuberant mix of alluring designs with undeniable chicness, the Fashion Futures 1.0 runway show was the place to be at the Singapore Fashion Week 2017 this October. Fashion Futures 1.0 presented by ZALORA featured a revolutionary see-now-buy-now concept via a new livestream function introduced to the ZALORA platform, that allowed the viewers to purchase selected labels and pieces with an appealing ease.

The runway brought an eclectic blend of local and regional talents, exhibited with stylish struts that rendered the room electrified. Featuring a host of designers selected for the mentorship and development programme Fashion Futures 1.0, we got a glimpse of what Asia’s next big things have to offer.

  1. Weekend Sundries, Michelle Chan

Emanating a simple yet elegant saviour faire, the pieces from Weekend Sundries boasted detailed designs crafted with a select staple of quality fabrics and unique textile prints. The pieces from the runway featured distinct v-neck embellishments, creating an elegant yet simple flattering look that characterised the collection. An astute combination of delicate hues and minimalist accessories, the Weekend Sundries offers the modern woman pieces that are comfortable, exquisite and inexplicably stylish.

2. Ying the Label, Phuay Li Ying

With paint-like prints, exploratory textures and eclectic designs, Ying the Label brings the runway an intriguing infusion of art and fashion in bright colours. Ying’s collection boasts a unique set of painting prints on the fabric that is often accentuated by hand-made foldings (like the belts in the collection) that tie in the whole look. The collection not only makes art wearable but ordinary wear artistic. From fun dresses to colourful tops, Ying the Label provides a sprinkle of femininity and creativity to the everyday look.

3. NIDA SHAY, Nida Tahir Shaheryar

NIDA SHAY presented the runway an enchanting collection of hand embroidered and embellished pieces crafted by their skilled ateliers based in Pakistan. Iridescent and elegant in style and colour, the collection featured extravagantly beautiful dresses that flaunted an astute embellishment of feathers and embroidery, to elegant, gold and shimmery sheer ones. The full range of gowns and jackets radiated a distinctly opulent and exquisite flair that was inexplicably captivating to the eye, setting the audience a penchant for a double take.

4. Wai Yang, Wai Yang

Exhibiting a refreshing sense of distinctiveness and originality with an undeniable touch of edginess, the Wai Yang collection at the Fashion Futures 1.0 runway was a real stunner. Opening the show with an androgynously chic silver pairing, it introduced the room to an eccentric yet authentic range of designs that characterised the Wai Yang brand. Incorporating street elements with an artisanal touch, the Wai Yang runway show was an exciting and engaging one, bringing the audience one innovative piece after another, rendering the room on the edge of their seats, eager to see what pieces come next.

5. Deboneire, Matthew Gideon

For the gentlemen who seeks an artful yet sleek wardrobe, Deboneire offers a lavish collection of stunning prints and one-of-a-kind fabrics that dresses one with an impeccable fit. From head to toe, the collection boasted exquisite designs and timeless patterns that held a whiff of classic machismo and modernity. The pieces on the Deboneire runway were sharp and masculine, offering the modern man a range of timeless pieces that gave a classic polished look.

The Fashion Futures 1.0 fashion show presented by ZALORA gave us an inspiring glimpse into the future of fashion in Singapore.
